Salty’s Restaurant!

by Emily Gutke 2 Comments

Does anyone else have a designated day off of cooking? Our family always eats out on Saturdays because as much as I love cooking, I know I would get burned out if I never took a break. Usually we just get takeout from a local place, but Seattle has some pretty amazing restaurants and so we occasionally go somewhere fun (usually without the kids – sorry kids!).

So while I normally just share my own recipes on this page, I’ve decided to occasionally share a favorite Seattle restaurant too – just in case any of you ever visit this part of the country and want ideas of somewhere amazing to eat. So….I had to start today with one of my favorites – Salty’s!

Salty’s is a waterfront restaurant on Alki Beach in West Seattle. From your table inside the restaurant (every seat in the the restaurant is a good seat!) you will look back over the Puget Sound at downtown Seattle. The night I took these photos, we saw a fire in a skyscraper, sea otters playing in the water, an intense squall move across the water, all culminating in an incredible sunset. I took this photo of the Seattle skyline I took from our table!

What To Eat

Salty’s has amazing seafood! Grilled Salmon with Asparagus and Crispy Potatoes (and my husband always enjoys their steaks).

Two more must-haves are the Grilled Fremont Sourdough Bread with Herbed Butter …

And White Chocolate Mousse Cake with Raspberry Coulis!

What to Wear

If there is one thing you should know about Seattle, it’s pretty casual. I don’t know if it’s the leftover grunge scene from the 90’s or the close proximity to water and mountains, but even at nice restaurants you’re going to see people dressed pretty casual. It’s something I’ve really grown to love about this place.

And as a side note, if any of you ever visit Seattle, send me a quick message and I can recommend a whole bunch of fun, non-touristy, things for you to do!

All restaurants are closed right now to indoor dining in Seattle, but most places still offer takeout. Now is a great time to support your all of your favorite restaurants, and get a night off of cooking for yourself 😉. Happy Weekend!!

Sounds great! We have only visited a couple times but will remember this if we get back there.

I think you’d really love this restaurant! I can never decide if I like the food or view better. Hopefully you’re able to make it back again soon!
