Fun Project & Quick Recipe! My oldest daughter has officially been away at college for a month and that means it’s definitely time to get a care package in the mail for her. But care packages aren’t just for college kids…I actually can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t appreciate getting something in the mail (or on their doorstep) to let them know they’re loved. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
✔️Muddy Buddies (Her all time favorite snack! See recipe below.)
✔️Fall candle and scented hand soap
✔️Small gift cards to 2 of her favorite fast food restaurants close to campus (So I can be sure she’s eating more than Top Ramen and scrambled eggs 😬)
✔️A few inexpensive Halloween decorations for her apartment
✔️A new long sleeve shirt for fall because it’s a lot colder where she goes to school than it is at home
✔️Some local favorite foods not available where she’s living (Seattle Chocolate bars and new crop Honey Crisp apples)
✔️Letters from home
MUDDY BUDDIES
1 (18 ounce) box Corn Chex (the cereal, not the snack mix)
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup creamy peanut butter
½ cup butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 c powdered sugar
Heat chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter in a large pot over low heat, stirring frequently until melted. Do not let boil or simmer or the chocolate will seize. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour cereal into the large pot with the melted chocolate mixture and gently stir to coat all of the cereal pieces. Pour powdered sugar over cereal and stir gently to coat cereal. Let mixture cool and set up on the counter and then store in airtight container in the refrigerator.
If you don’t have Corn Chex in your corner of the world, just look for some type of unsweetened cereal with an open profile so that the mixture can fill the inside of the cereal pieces with chocolate and peanut butter heaven!
Have any guesses where she goes to college. I took this picture behind her apartment. Did any of you go there too? 🤔
